Kudos to The Mercury for carrying the full page interview article on rhino protection and conservation in South Africa.

Edna Molewa, the Minister of Environmental Affairs, clearly articulates the importance of the rhino in our environment, our culture and our economy and the many departments, initiatives and people involved in the conservation of the rhino, particularly in view of anti-poaching measures that are in place.

President Jacob Zuma’s personal involvement - and visibility - in the project and the declaration that rhino poaching has been declared a ‘National Priority Crime’ needs to be commended.

All South Africans need to be conscious of and support the protection and conservation of the rhino.
