Any endeavour ‘to keep residents safe and help catch criminals’ is most welcome and the use of digital CCTV cameras certainly gives the curtailment of crime a technological edge.

For however effective the cameras will be statistics of how they directly contribute to crime control and deterrence needs to be reported.

Ultimately it is about the availability of police personnel on the ground, quick response, enforcement of the law and the prosecution of criminals.
